Get to Know Your Local Library (Hunterdon County Library – North County Branch)
When is the last time you went to your local library? It may have been a while as the digital age seems to put everything at your fingertips via the internet. But, your local library has a lot more than books. Let’s get to know a little bit about your local library and all it has to offer you.
Location and Hours
The North County Branch of the Hunterdon County Library has been around since 1979. While it has been in several locations since it began in 1979, it currently is located at:

The current hours of the North County Branch are:
- Monday 9:00 am-5:00 pm
- Tuesday 9:00 am-9:00 pm
- Wednesday 9:00 am-9:00 pm
- Thursday 9:00 am-9:00 pm
- Friday 9:00 am-5:00 pm
- Saturday 9:00 am-5:00 pm
- Sunday 1:00 pm-5:00 pm

Once you have completed your application, bring it to the library, and they will issue you a library card. Your library card can be used at any of the branches located in the Hunterdon County Library system.
Your library has an extensive collection of books and other materials available for you to check out. Additionally, your library has a vast selection of digital media that you can access online. There are eBooks and audiobooks, along with digital magazines available online. These can be downloaded to devices such as iPads, iPhones and Android devices.

If you have a book club, the library has “Book Group Kits” available for you to check out. These kits contain multiple copies of a popular book, along with discussion questions. It’s a great way to get your own book club started, and by using these kits, members of your club will not need to purchase the books on their own.
The Hunterdon County Library also has several book groups which meet at various branches within the system. If you’re not ready to start your own club, but are looking to join one, check out the clubs that the library has to offer.
The North County Branch offers storytime for younger children along with many events throughout the year geared towards children. You can see a list of events that are currently scheduled here: http://www.hclibrary.us/kids/kidsevents.htm Additionally, there are events for teens such as a Writers’ Group and Teen Advisory Group.
The Friends of Hunterdon County Library works to support the library in its endeavors. You can apply to join this group and help support the library. One of their most popular fundraisers is the annual book sale. The book sale this year will take place on April 27-29.
